This Black History Month, we pay tribute to the incredible contributions of Black business leaders as well as the achievements of some of the exceptional Black leaders across the Chief community. This month, we have dedicated programming and content that increase awareness of Black voices, foster belonging within our community and company, and encourage dialogue as we continue to drive positive impact:
- “Beyond Explicit Bias: Why the ‘Black Ceiling’ May Be the Real Reason Black Leaders Are Leaving Your Company” — We spoke with professor and author, Kevin Woodson, and Chief Member and Vice President of Brilliant Black Minds at Karat, Crystal Moore, about how leaders can address racial discomfort to disrupt its damaging impact in the workplace. - “Overcoming Resistance to Drive DEI: How Leaders Can Still Make Change — On February 27th, we will be hosting New York Times bestselling author Heather McGhee for a virtual event that will offer insights about the enduring support that still exists for diversity measures as well as practical strategies for making change in the workplace.
- Black Community Conversation: We are proud of the diverse identities within our community, and it is important that we hold space for them to connect, discuss, share, and listen. On February 28th, we will be holding a facilitated virtual conversation for our members who identify as part of the Black Community.
- Featured Clubhouse Cocktail – We partnered with Uncle Nearest, a Black woman-owned whiskey brand to create a featured cocktail, available only at Chief Clubhouses across the country.
- Black History Month Cocktail Hour – On February 22nd, we will be hosting a cocktail hour across all of our Clubhouses (NYC, DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago) to cultivate a shared space where all of our members can build connections, and take a moment to understand and appreciate the profound impact of Black history and culture on our collective experience.
