This Pride Month, we are celebrating the experiences and achievements of LGBTQIA+ leaders around the world and across the Chief community.
Women who identify as LGBTQIA+ hold less than 1% of C-Suite roles. Through tailored programming and content, our goal is to amplify their voices, highlight the importance of allyship and support within the LGBTQIA+ community, and facilitate honest and insightful conversations.
This month, we will share stories and resources that we hope will inspire all Chief members as they navigate their leadership journeys:
- Disrupting the Status Quo: Arlan Hamilton on Unconventional Success – On June 27th, we will welcome Founder and Managing Partner of Backstage Capital, Arlan Hamilton, for a virtual keynote discussion. Under Hamilton’s leadership, Backstage has reached new heights, raising more than $15 million and investing in over 170 startups led by people of color, women and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. Looking at her own unique experience, Hamilton will dive into how leaders can break through barriers as they reach for success.
- LGBTQIA+ Community Conversation – We honor diverse identities within our community, and it is imperative that we hold space for them to connect, discuss, share, and listen. On June 5th, we will host a facilitated virtual conversation for Chief members that identify as part of the LGBTQIA+ community.
- Bystander Intervention to Support the LGBTQIA+ Community – On June 11th, join Chief member and Right To Be President and Co-Founder Emily May for this one-hour, interactive training that will teach you the 5Ds of bystander intervention methodology and how these strategies can be used to support the LGBTQIA+ community. All Chief members are welcome and invited.
- Featured Clubhouse Cocktail – Our Pride Month cocktail will feature a bottled-in-bond Bourbon, VELVET, from Selkie Spirits founded by two Chief Members Heather Somaini and Jill Hotchkiss, who met in the LA Clubhouse. We are excited for this Pride Month collaboration supporting an LGBTQIA+ and Ally member-owned product.
- Pride Month Cocktail Hour – On June 6th, we will be hosting a cocktail hour across all of our clubhouses (NYC, DC, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Chicago) for our members to build in-person connections and celebrate the voices, achievements, and contributions of LGBTQIA+ leaders.
- Supporting the Community With Point of Pride – In Collaboration with Chief’s LGBTQIA+ Employee Collective, there will be a station set up for members to partake in letter writing for Point of Pride, a nonprofit that supports healthcare access for transgender people. With every free chest binder or pair of trans femme shape-wear that Point of Pride donates, the Point of Pride team includes a handwritten, affirming note of support to the receiver. Instructions and guidelines for letter writing will be available at the clubhouse.
- LGBTQIA+ Member Created a Resource List – In honor of Pride month, we want to uplift the amazing work in our LGBTQIA+ Chief community. Show your support by investing in these businesses, nonprofits and books. We also encourage you to use the email addresses listed here to build connections and offer support to our amazing LGBTQIA+ Chief leaders!
At Chief, we are committed to embedding equity and inclusion into our entire ecosystem and member experience, and are passionate about fostering an inclusive community where all of our members are able to give their highest unique contribution to create a community of groundbreaking leaders. We are grateful to all of the Chief members who offered their time and expertise to develop this programming for our community!
